Dirt Roads

Gentle hands I wish to hold,

Though I know deep within me, it’s time to let go.

Letting go of dreams and sweet whispers,

Long dirt roads and little kitten whiskers.

Time is not fair to the one who chooses to care,

And he did and does still, cause his heart is so rare.

I can admire him from here, but how I wish he was still near.

Love that paralyzed my fears and kissed me sweetly,

Now a stranger to my stream of salty tears.
