Buck
Would you see me clearly, If I’d whitened my teeth?
Driving at night screaming.
Along with a song, that reminds me of us.
You weren’t at home, I had the courage to see.
When two deer ran in front of me;
Smoke filled my lungs, my hair covered in dust.
How come Hell seemed so fun, once.
I like who you are inside my head, but;
The dust settled and I began to see.
All the scars you left on me,
It’s been a long time since I’ve been in your bed.
Will I see you when I’m dead? Will you show up this time?
They looked like us – The doe and the buck.
I killed only one;
Knelt down to hold its head out of the mud,
My whitened teeth tasted like blood.
Knowing how hard it is, to lose someone you love.
I wept with the doe; held onto her chest,
As she watched her buck run, without looking back.
Just like you did.
