Body & Soul
I am not my body, but my soul.
If you saw it, would you stay?
Once I left my skin; or would you be afraid?
Taking in my chaos, giving her a name.
The dark cloud that dwells within – would you embrace?
Will you love me enough, to see her fervent storm pass,
And look the monster in it’s glowing eye?
Would you cower, or reach for me;
Many lust for my skin, but not what is underneath.
They do not see what lies beneath;
Through the black cumulus clouds hovering over,
The riches of Heaven, and all of Earth’s splendor.
Lining my soul, decorating my walls–
Though they will never know.
Mistaking my skin – for heavenly treasure.
Seeking only moments of pleasure.
So, I leave my skin behind; and let my lightning blind
The lascivious eyes who desire only heat and fire —
Listening to them cry, no longer begging for me to undress.
Until the one who seeks all of me meets my eye,
The one who is unbothered, seeing me for what I am.
I am embraced,
My clouds depart as well as Heavens’ gates;
My monster tamed as she finally hears her name.
I am not Body – I am Soul.
