Alive or Dead
I learned of her death and went swimming.
Not because I did not care;
But I could not bare to hold the weight of this cursed world,
On my own again.
I needed His hands to hold; His baptizing touch.
After all — isn’t this the world He loves so much?
Floating and sinking, trusting and doubting,
My heart is pounding still, yet — A sister is killed.
Is this how it’s supposed to be, lives up for the taking?
The system erasing all that Eden was; All she could have been.
Fools trust men, I’ve learned this once again.
So, listen for the steady voice in the wind;
And know that in one death, new lives can begin.
Awakening our soul,
Holding up our heavy heads, as water awaits us,
Alive or dead.
