Yours

I can’t help but love you still,

As if you’d snuck me sleeping pills.

I’ve been stuck in a dream of just you and me;

As a bird on your window sill, singing you my sweetest tune,

And you loved me as the stars love the moon.

Can we both dream it tonight? Toes intertwined and your hands in mine;

All I want is you, I hope that’s alright.

Running up sand covered hills, Michigans dunes,

They call us back home; Will you be running up them with me soon?

If all you need is time, let me be your cocoon,

Kissing you softly as you spread your wings,

I’ll protect you through the cold of winter and the rain of spring.

I want to see you and explore all you’ve been praying for,

But that doesn't mean we can’t be more.

All I want is you to be mine, and me to be yours.

Can we both grow new wings together?

It is only you I adore;

For you, I will not only learn how to fly but to sore.
