Lather me with clover and brush my hair,

With my head in your lap.

Walk alongside me without turning back,

Paint me as pretty, as you know I am;

Coat me in your prayers like grains of sand.

Transform my curves into a delicacy, that only you know completely,

Intimately: Learn every inch of me.

The dirt road I once called home, my loudest thoughts

And softest moans;

Tears I’ve cried to clear gray clouds away,

Revealing quiescent stars behind my eyes.

Speak truth over lies, always hold me before saying goodbye;

Give me your shadow where I can hide,

Away from harsh rains when lighting strikes.

Know the scent of my cheeks and the freckles behind my knees,

Believe in the dreams I steep in heavily; Every night.

Help my eager wings take flight.

Romance the daisy’s rising from my sleeves, know the hymns I softly sing.

Who I think of when I feel alone, the fears lining my spine and;

Which preferred trees I nap underneath.

Watch me undress, putting my pearls away,

Never once leaving the gaze of white lace.

Wash me in sweet rosemary, so who I appear to be falls away entirely,

Unveiling all of my flaws effortlessly.

For only you to see –

Kiss my tired eyes until I fall asleep,

Tuck me in your chest, knowing there I find true rest.

Steady my trembling hands in yours;

And lead them into the woman I could become.

Unlocking the griffin caged within, climbing mountains that seem to always cave in.

Liberate the ocean growing readily in my veins,

Brake unforgiving chains with only a whisper of my name.

For you;

I promise to do the same – Until the crimson blood in me fades,

And my wrinkles run thinner than each brown hair turned gray.

My soul will stay the same for you, and my love permanent;

As ink on this page.
